My Tinder Experience

I’ve downloaded Tinder twice in my life; once during my first year of university which ended up being a colossal fail, and a few weeks back where my experience was fire. Isn’t it coincidental that my experience was the complete opposite now I’m slim and dare are I say hot?...

Right off the bat you’ll notice that people on dating apps have varying levels of experience / game (which will show when you’re conversing). You’ll have the guys who open with ‘hi’, the worst opening line known to man; the ones who open with generic questions like ‘are you Italian because of your name?’, a fair question but discussing heritage isn’t exactly a turn on; and the few like me who open with lines like ‘so (name), tell me something shocking about yourself’ - an attempt to break the ice and get the conversation flowing. That is assuming that the guys you meet are nice or have some level of class ie not asking for nudes straight away. In all fairness, you have to commend them for being ballsy / upfront with what they want.
You’ll notice that some guys seem off which usually means one thing, #catfish. There will be the subtle inconsistency with their story such as them telling you they’re 10 years younger then it says on their profile, their inability to explain a photo from their profile which they clearly ripped from someone elses’ Facebook page, or the fact that the dick pic they send is from a guy who has a completely different skin colour (yes, that happened). Needless to say, delete these guys as they’re most likely going to kill you.
On the topic of Catfish, I experience a few guys who were just plain odd. Perhaps it’s me being judgemental but I personally wouldn’t be searching for guys on Tinder whilst 'laying next to my girlfriend'.
Then there comes the ultimate Tinder experience of meeting the guy you’ll delete the app for. Besides what social media wants you to believe, these apps sometimes work and for me it did (yay). It only took a day for me but for people whose profiles aren’t as an inferno as mine was (so vain), it can take a little longer.
Hang in there and keep swiping,
Mario El :P

Since writing this post, I have re-downloaded Tinder.
The app can only get you so far :)
